In approximate order of importance
Respirator > surgical mask > cloth mask > no mask. Respirator should be certified or tested by a third party organization. N95s are certified by NIOSH. KN95s are certified by China and are equivalent to N95s. Avoid buying from 3rd party sellers on Amazon, as they may be counterfeit. Bona Fide Masks and DemeTech are trustworthy sellers of N95s. I use Airgami, which are reusable, rinseable respirators that can be disinfected using heat.Do NOT buy envomask, the airgel comes apart after a few months. I know this from personal experience.
Goggles or spectacles with side shields prevent transmission through eyes. Anti fog coating reduces or eliminates fogging, but you need a special kind if your lenses have anti reflective coating.
Air purifier with HEPA filter captures and removes virus particles from the air.
